Christmas is only one day of the year. A time of light a time of Thanksgiving in the darkest season, which is a good metaphor for life. As idealistic as we hope to be, reality can be far more serious.
In Jesus’ lifetime, he was raised under a dangerous dictatorship, became a refugee, lived under Roman occupation, and his society pulled in many directions – from zealotry to religious corruption. Jesus came just at the right time. He is among us now and will be with us always.
Reality can throw curve balls, deliver disappointments, leave us lost, confused or hopeless. Sometimes the grief is unbearable. For some, Christmas is unbearable because it reminds us how much light is absent from our life.
Christmas is a season reminding us hope is always there. Thanksgiving is the mark of the holiday season. A time to be thankful.
One tiny child in a manger was a hidden glimmer of hope, too small to be noticed. He can grow into a great light for billions of people. In the darkest of days, there is light.
When life has us tired, hope takes effort. Faith is challenging, but worth seeking out and rewarding when we least expect it. Giving the gifts of love, hope and charity build a warmth and light within us to carry on. Once you are strong enough to pass those gifts on, the hope and light of Christmas burns in you every day of the year.
I wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving.
With the Holidays approaching with Thanksgiving in just two days, let us be filled with thankfulness.

Gift giving is part of the Holiday season, especially for children. Something to help, with supervision might be a new tablet. Like the one in the link below.
