Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day

This fourth of July let us remember the reason we celebrate Independence Day. Back in 1776 was the day we declared our independence from Great Britain and adopted by the United States of America. On this day forward we continue to celebrate this day as a remembrance of our freedom. Though too often we may take our freedom for granted.

Happy Independence Day

Throughout history, even during Biblical times people have taken for granted their freedom. Forgetting why we have the freedom to choose, the freedom to do nothing, the freedom of religion. God has granted us “Free Will”

Many nations still do not allow freedom of choice, freedom to express yourself, to discuss politics and religion. Even the freedom to decide what is best for your family. We on the other hand, are blessed with many freedoms, yet we sometimes forget how we’re allowed the freedom to choose. So, when you’re celebrating this summertime holiday, I encourage you to thank God. For all things come from Him.

“I have the right to do anything,” you say — but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything” — but not everything is constructive. 1 Corinthians 10:23 (NIV)

Having free will is a gift from God. However, we are not to use this free will to live carelessly or to cause harm to others. Freedom to choose does come with consequences, often regretting the decisions we made. The hope is you would use your freedom to choose God. To follow Him, love Him and be obedient to His commands.

You were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh, rather, serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13(NIV)

Treat others as you would like to be treated. Do good and goodness will be among you. If you want to be trusted, then you must earn trust from others. Nothing in life is free. But we are free to make choices about our own lives. I personally love being able to choose freedom in which we stand for. I can choose where me wife and I live, where we go to Church, how I will make a living, what car I drive and what we have for dinner.

Freedom

As individuals we are free to make decisions for ourselves every single day without any interference or through any government intervention. We can choose what schools we go to, where we are going to raise a family, what career path we may decide to pursue and so much more. Now there are still laws in place, so we make decisions based upon not going down the wrong path in life, bringing harm to others, destroying property, and allowing any other evilness into our lives. Pretty much life as summed up in the law of the Prophets.

What about you? What do you choose? Today, celebrate our independence, our freedom to choose, and remember the sacrifices of others so we can celebrate that “Freedom”

Pray with Me

Father in heaven, thank you for this day we celebrate as a Nation, Independence Day. If not for you we would not have this day, we are thankful for life itself. A life richly blessed by you. Free will to make our own choices, and we choose your will not ours. Help us remember those who fought for our freedom. Let us not take anything in this life for granted. We pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us and teach us to use our freedom wisely, in Jesus’ name, Amen…

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar like wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
