Happy Labor Day, friends, for most of us labor day is the end of summer and a time to gather together for family barbecues and picnics. So go ahead and make the most of this three day weekend. Because it’s back to school, preparing for fall festivities including football as we begin the brisk and cooler temperatures and autumn colors upon us.

And let us remember we also celebrate labor day to honor the American workers and the labor movement for better working conditions implemented in the late 19th century during Grover Cleveland’s term as president.
So I have concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 (NLT)

A Greater Purpose
You may think of work as just a way to pay the bills. And while this is true, we should find some fulfillment with a greater purpose from our work. Commit to a lifetime of learning, cultivate new skills, and keep a healthy mindset. And,
Whatever
you do, work with your whole heart as working for the Lord. Colossians 3:23

A Positive Mindset
However, if you feel unappreciated at work, overlooked, and even taken for granted, leaving you discouraged and hopeless. Keep a positive mindset and search for something more meaningful to serve others. I encourage you not to complain and become idle at what you do. Keep searching for new opportunities and growth. Ask God to reveal His plans for you.
“The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat”. We hear some among you are idle and disruptive. Such people we command and urge you in the name of Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 (NIV)
His Plans For You
When you earnestly pray for God to reveal His plans for you, they are for you to prosper you and give you hope. He will give you the desires of your heart if you are willing to commit everything to Him. Listen to Him, do not be prideful thinking you can do it on your own. His plans are better and they are not to harm you.
Recently I have been trying to do it all on my own and expecting the Lord to do everything I want. That hasn’t worked so well thus far. I know He nudges me to write things down, yet I admit to being idle. Maybe I am afraid of what His plans are. I believe it’s about having control. Because He doesn’t always reveal everything at once. Perhaps I haven’t let go of what I need so I can focus on what God’s purpose is for me.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. Proverbs16:3 (NIV)
I encourage you to let go and let God reveal His plans for you.
Pray with me:
Father in Heaven, I come to you this day, labor day in remembrance of all people who have established their plans with you. They are plans for the good, to be helpful and not self seeking. Labor day is not just the ending of summer, but a celebration for all workers to take delight in you and those who made safer and better working conditions for all workers. Lord, I too commit my plans to you, and to let go of what doesn’t serve me well, to follow you, and the plans you have for me, in Jesus name, Amen…
